Matthew Medina grew up surrounded by IT, most of his family worked in the industry in some form. That foundation shaped a career that started as an intern at the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority doing hands-on break-fix work, and grew into something much broader.
His first real role was as a Systems Administrator for the Town of Belmont, Massachusetts, supporting the fire department, police department, library, public works, water department, and municipal leadership. It was a crash course in high-stakes, high-variety IT at a scale that demanded reliability over everything else.
From there, Matthew worked across startups, enterprises, and non-profits, advancing through senior support and engineering leadership roles before becoming Director of IT. He’s seen IT from both the technical and functional side, and spent years consulting for organizations ranging from small family businesses to growing SMBs, bringing enterprise-grade technology, resources, and processes to organizations that had never had access to that level of support.
Started after experiencing bad MSP support firsthand.
As Director of IT, Matthew managed the relationship with an outside MSP. The support was confrontational, slow, and ineffective, and the technology they were using was years behind what was available. The cost wasn’t the problem. The value wasn’t there.
